
The Cape West Coast Peninsula consists of Hopefield, Langebaan, Paternoster, Saldanha, St Helena Bay and Vredenburg. For many this region typifies the West Coast with its quant fishing villages, sea-side resorts and ever popular lagoon. It lies south of the Berg River mouth and includes the West Coast National Park, stretching inland to Hopefield.

Weather
The climate is semi-arid Mediterranean, mild and without extremes, but with strong seasonal winds, predominantly southerlies in summer and northerlies in winter. The monthly maximum and minimum air temperatures recorded for Langebaanweg (15 km northeast of the town of Langebaan) range from 18.4oC – 27.5oC and 7.1oC – 14.9oC respectively. The average annual rainfall is 265 mm, falling mainly in winter.
